Dozens of Hezbollah militants had their pagers explode while communicating with each other
Pagers were used because they are an old means of communication that is difficult to track and control from the outside.
On September 17, a massive explosion of pagers received ~5 months ago occurred in Lebanon. Despite statements from Israeli sources that this was an operation by their special services using innovative technologies, it soon became clear that we are talking about the physical presence of explosives in the devices and, probably, a reprogramming.
Among the victims are many civilians, including children and, according to Lebanese sources, medical personnel of hospitals (pagers are also used there, and explosions in the pockets of doctors only worsened the confusion on the ground).
Already today, a new wave of explosions is reported, this time radios, car radios, radios, and household electronics are exploding, causing fires in residential buildings. According to Reuters, the portable radios were purchased by Hezbollah five months ago, around the same time as the pagers.
What does this mean for the security industry?
This action demonstrated the transition of terrorist threats to a new level. At the same time, an attack of this scale is very difficult to prevent. Therefore, the most effective option is to prevent such cases, which in turn requires the implementation of the necessary organizational measures and the use of technical means capable of detecting explosives and dangerous chemical agents:
- The Kerber-T IMS - a technical means of detecting and identifying explosives;
- Detector for Hazardous Chemical Agents and Explosives "Premium Segment", designed to detect chemical threats.
These devices are capable of detecting even minimal traces of hazardous substances, ensuring a high level of security at transport infrastructure facilities, in crowded places and at critical facilities, their use will minimize terrorist threats similar to what happened in Lebanon.
