RBC statistics: Growing threats require strengthening of security systems
According to RBC, which analyzed the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 1 191 terrorist attacks were registered in Russia in 2024, which is almost 3 times more than in 2023 (410 cases). The total number of terrorist crimes increased from 2 382 to 3 714.
The trend continues:
1. 2019–2021: ~40–50 terrorist attacks per year.
2. 2022: 127 terrorist attacks.
3. 2023: 410 terrorist attacks.
4. 2024 г.: 1 191 terrorist attacks.
The number of convicts under the main article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Terrorist Act) has also increased: from 14-43 (2019-2023) to 75 in 2024.
This statistic is a wake-up call. The increase in incidents confirms that prevention and early detection of threats are crucial. Special attention should be given to technologies that prevent threats before they occur, especially in crowded areas.
YPH Group technologies create additional lines of defense, increasing the level of security at critical infrastructure facilities.
"If we are talking about preventing terrorist acts involving chemical and biological agents, the first thing we need to do is prevent the entry or transportation of hazardous substances into the facility. If this is not possible for some reason, we need to prevent the use of these substances within the facility. In the most negative scenario, where the previous steps are not successful, we need to recognize the use as soon as possible and take measures to minimize the consequences. When faced with hidden chemical and biological threats, the cost of failure in the last point can be hundreds or even thousands of human lives", Alexey Shablya, Technical Director of the YUP Group notes.
